What My Own Chart Taught Me About This
My North Node is in Gemini in the 9th house: connection across cultures, travel, higher learning, the pursuit of meaning through difference rather than sameness.
That first flight was only the beginning. It never really stopped. Australia, India, London, I kept finding my way toward people whose backgrounds were nothing like mine, and I loved every bit of it, the differences most of all.
When I first found astrology and saw where my North Node actually sat, something clicked. My life had been unfolding exactly this way long before I understood why, even in the years I felt like I had no idea what I was doing. I think this is true for a lot of us. We're already moving in the right direction in the background, mostly without realising it.

Two parts of your chart speak to this most directly: your Nodal Axis and your Midheaven.
The Nodal Axis: Where You've Been, Where You're Headed
Your South Node describes what already comes naturally, skills, instincts and patterns you arrived with. It's comfortable, and it can also become a place you over-rely on if you never move past it.
Your North Node points toward the growth edge, the direction that feels less familiar, sometimes even uncomfortable at first, but where real fulfilment tends to live. It's not something to force. It's more like a compass than a to-do list.
Neither node works alone. The real story is in the conversation between them, the mastery you're bringing with you and the stretch you're being invited into.
The Midheaven: How Your Purpose Shows Up in the World
Your Midheaven marks the highest point of your chart, and it speaks to how your purpose tends to express itself outwardly: your public role, your visibility, the shape your contribution takes when it meets the world.
Where your North Node is more of an inner direction, your Midheaven is closer to the question, how am I here to serve, and in what form?
Reading Them Together
Neither point means much in isolation. Both the sign (the energy) and the house (the life area it shows up in) matter.
A South Node in Sagittarius might feel most at home in constant expansion and big philosophical ideas, while its North Node counterpart in Gemini, in the 3rd house, might be asking for something smaller and closer: everyday communication, local connection, the ordinary exchange of ideas rather than the grand pursuit of truth. Small, specific meaning, not less real for being small.

If you don't already have your chart, sites like Astro.com will generate one for free, you'll just need your birth date, time and place. Once you have it, your North Node, South Node and Midheaven will be marked, and you can start noticing where your own map might be pointing.
You don't need to decode the whole thing at once. Start with the node. Sit with what it's asking of you. The rest tends to reveal itself in its own time.
